The associations AECC, Apnef, Reis Mags, de la Fiesta Intercultural and Acción Francisco, together with the Consell de Formentera, celebrated the International Volunteer Day yesterday with the installation of their respective tables in the Plaza de la Constitució.
All presented their brochures and the volunteers (there was only one man), explained to onlookers the activities they develop throughout the year.
In all cases there was a common demand: non-profit organizations need volunteers to continue functioning.
The activity developed on Formentera by the association against cancer (AECC) is well known, as well as Apnef, which is dedicated to the care of people with special needs and did not miss the event.
Intercultural Party volunteers needed
But this year the novelty is that the citizen groups are already organizing for the Intercultural Party in which all the nationalities residing on the island mix and which has not been held since 2019. From the table set up by the Consell, volunteers were encouraged to sign up to prepare the party, with the intention of celebrating it in April 2023, although the participating groups will decide the date.
