A breakdown in one of the two drinking water dispensers for tanker trucks that distribute the water supply to the scattered houses of Formentera is broken, as confirmed yesterday by Aqualia, the company responsible for the management.
Although the company tried to minimize the effects of this breakdown to the water supply, stating that “we are distributing the day so that there are no collapses” and pointed out that “there aren’t always queues, only at specific times”, the local distribution companies (six in total) and their truck drivers are beginning to feel the effects on the delivery with delays in serving orders to their customers.
The water supply service in tanker trucks meets the demand of the many scattered houses and establishments that are not reached by the drinking water distribution network of the villages. At this time of the year with the occupation of these houses by tourists (many of them rented) the demand for water shoots up.
Water supply delays with queues of tanker trucks
The breakdown in question which occurred last Thursday afternoon and as Diario de Ibiza has learned affects the meter of one of the two water pumps that has stopped working. This means that at specific times of the day, not at all hours, up to a dozen trucks can be queuing. Sometimes they even have to park on the same road of es Ca Marí, so as not to cut off access to other facilities such as the butane store or homes that are beyond the pump.
Regarding the repair of the breakdown Aqualia sources indicated that they are working “on its repair so that it can be up and running as soon as possible”, although they did not indicate a date.
