Okuda begins to transform Sant Antoni’s West End into an ‘Infinite Rainbow’

“A work that deals with diversity, as it represents the different cultures and people that come to the island”. These are the words used by the renowned Cantabrian artist Okuda San Miguel when talking about the mural he has started to paint at santa Agnès street of Sant Antoni. In addition, during the presentation, which was held in the same street, located in the West End of the town, he spoke about the objective of this initiative: “My intention is to attract cultural tourism”.

Okuda has indicated that he expects to have finished the mural “a prioriat the beginning of May”. The deadline for the completion of the work is a challenge for Okuda, according to the multifaceted artist: “I am very happy and excited to do this work. However, I am used to painting vertically and this time, I have to do it horizontally”.

During the presentation of the beginning of the street painting, Okuda has revealed the title of his creation: ‘Infinite Rainbow‘. It is the “largest” work on the ground ever made by Okuda, as the urban painter himself explained.

It is the second consecutive day that Okuda works, with the help of several workers of his team, in the ‘Infinite Rainbow’. The Cantabrian has indicated that he is “eager for it to be finished” and has talked about the “peculiarity” of some of the materials used: “It is a work that has a very slow creation process, since we normally work with sprays, which have a very fast drying time. This time we do it with a product that contains a kind of polyurethane with a mixture of three components and that needs 20 hours of drying for each color.”

At the presentation the mayor of the City Council, Marcos Serrathanked Okuda for his presence and spoke about the purpose of the project: “We are very happy that the mural on Santa Agnès street, which is more than 150 meters long, has begun. It is a work whose mission is to revitalize the West End area of Sant Antoni”.
