The festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Formentera from October 2 to 4, 2026, bringing back artists and locations from previous editions alongside new experiences.

SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia will celebrate its 10th anniversary from October 2 to 4 in Formentera. Just 350 people will take part in this particularly symbolic edition, which will look back at the festival’s journey while retaining the elements that have defined it from the beginning: secrecy, musical quality and positive impact.

Under the concept of (re)discovering SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia, the 10th edition will bring back several artists who have appeared at the festival over the years, while also introducing new names. Some of the locations that have played a role in the festival’s history will also return, alongside new settings.

A festival line-up that remains a secret

One of the defining features of SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia is that its line-up is kept secret. The artists and much of the programme will not be revealed until the festival gets underway, meaning attendees discover the musicians, locations and experiences as they unfold.

The format will once again combine established artists and emerging talent in unexpected settings, maintaining the close connection between performers and audiences that has become one of the festival’s hallmarks.

Across its first nine editions, the festival has brought together 78 artists across 83 concerts and 17 DJ sets. Artists who have performed at the festival include The Vaccines, Baiuca, Maria Arnal i Marcel Bagés, Carlos Ares, Roosevelt, Queralt Lahoz, Israel Fernández and Jorge Drexler.

The programme has also featured emerging international acts such as KABEAUSHÉ, Pongo, Crystal Murray and Los Bitchos.

Third consecutive TRUE Zero Waste Platinum certification

The 10th anniversary will coincide with another environmental milestone for the festival. SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia has received TRUE Zero Waste Platinum certification for the third consecutive year.

The festival retains the highest level of recognition awarded by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) and remains the only music event in the world to hold this distinction. At its most recent edition, it achieved a 99.3% waste diversion rate.

The certification forms part of a positive-impact strategy that has been developed since the project began. Its focus includes decarbonisation, the circular economy, responsible tourism and the protection of Formentera’s natural environment. Among its initiatives is the Save Posidonia Project.

The festival’s connection with the island also extends to the local business and social community. Over the past decade, more than 140 Formentera businesses and local organisations have taken part in the project.

Formentera at the heart of the festival

The island will continue to play a central role in the experience. The festival aims to encourage visitors to discover Formentera beyond its best-known locations, bringing them closer to its natural and cultural heritage, landscapes, local flavours and residents.

Over the past decade, more than 30 land and sea routes have been organised, involving over 50 local experts. These activities have explored subjects ranging from history and archaeology to flora and fauna, marine biology, ecology and astronomy.

Participants have also covered more than 60 kilometres on foot across Formentera during the festival’s various editions.

Gastronomy and beer culture

Food will remain an important part of the festival experience. Over the past ten years, more than 30 restaurants and chefs from Formentera have taken part, showcasing cuisine based on local, seasonal and locally sourced produce.

This is complemented by beer culture, another of SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia’s central pillars. It will feature through a range of activities and experiences designed to offer attendees a different way to discover and enjoy beer.

From October 2 to 4, 2026, SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia will return to Formentera to celebrate a decade defined by music, gastronomy, beer, island discovery and a commitment to the environment.
