When are the Christmas lights on in Ibiza? Discover all the dates

The lighting of the Christmas decorations marks the beginning of a very special time for many. The different municipalities of Ibiza will begin to fill with light and colour from 28 November, following a staggered calendar that starts in Sant Antoni and Sant Joan and ends on 5 December, when Santa Eulària presses its official switch-on button.

In Ibiza Town, the festivities kick off this Friday with the opening of the funfair, which will be open in the afternoons, from 5 pm to 11 pm from Monday to Thursday, and until midnight on Fridays and weekends.

The official switch-on of the Christmas lights will take place on Saturday, 29 November at 6 pm at Parque Reina Sofía. All the details of the Christmas programme —which includes markets, concerts and shows for the whole family— will be announced on Monday, 24 November at a press conference at Ibiza Town Hall.

Sant Joan and Sant Antoni, the first to light up Christmas

Sant Joan and Sant Antoni will be the first municipalities to illuminate their streets.

The inauguration in Sant Joan will take place on 28 November in Sant Vicent de sa Cala, at the Camp d’Aprenentatge. The festive afternoon will include hot chocolate, children’s workshops, a photo booth and music.

On the same day, Sant Antoni will switch on its Christmas lights at 6:30 pm on the Passeig de ses Fonts, one of the main meeting points in the municipality during the holiday season. In addition, the Mercat de Nadal will be open from 28 November to 6 January, becoming one of the hubs of Christmas activity, with stalls, a festive atmosphere and activities for all ages.

In Sant Josep, the Christmas lights will be turned on on 4 December at 6 pm in the church square.

Finally, Santa Eulària will close the island’s lighting calendar on 5 December at 6 pm, in Plaça d’Espanya, where the official opening ceremony of this year’s Christmas season will take place.
