A jet2 flight -the British low-cost airline – covering the Belfast-Ibiza route this Sunday was forced to delay departure after a passenger was ejected for allegedly “verbally assaulting” staff prior to departure, the Northern Ireland capital’s International Airport has said.
The incident occurred on the runway itself, at which point the crew requested police assistance shortly before takeoff. The flight, bound for the Balearic Island, was about to take off when the aforementioned individual was seen on the tarmaco began to “verbally assault” the crew, according to airport officials. The agents boarded the plane and ejected the passenger without further incident.
For their part, from the airfield they remind that alcohol or problematic behavior can result in trip cancellation, flight diversion or arrest of those deemed disruptive, and they urge tourists to respect safety protocols.
The company has not yet issued any statement on the matter, despite the fact that it has suffered multiple incidents this summer with British passengers with reprehensible behavior en route to European party destinations. This latest case comes amid growing pressure on airports and airlines to crack down on alcohol-related behavior even before flights take off.
