Discover Ibiza: the best things to see and do on Ibiza in 3 days

Get the local insight on the best way to discover Ibiza in just 3 days

To discover Ibiza in three days, some local know-how is essential in finding the most beautiful hidden corners of the island.

Discover Ibiza – Day 1: Stroll through a World Heritage Site and experience the essence of Ibiza

Discover Ibiza by starting the day with a visit to the walled city of Dalt Vila, declared by Unesco as a World Heritage Site in 1999. This is the upper town of Ibiza, a network of cobbled alleys, whitewashed facades and hidden corners to discover. If you like art, don’t miss the Puget Museum.

On reaching the top of Dalt Vila, with the Cathedral overlooking the walled city, you’ll be left wanting to discover more about the early civilizations on Ibiza. With a visit to the Puig des Molins Museum, you will find the most extensive and best preserved necropolis in the world.

The first day’s route will take you to the charmingly small village of Sant Carles. Here you can lose track of time while taking a leisurely stroll through the Las Dalias market, which is open every day in summer and during the weekends in winter.  There are dozens of stalls selling silver jewelry, leather accessories and handmade musical instruments, and you can chat with the many characters who are the heart and soul of these markets.

Replenish your strength after the Las Dalias market at the authentic Bar Anneta, located in front of the church at the end of the road. As one of the most historic establishments on Ibiza, Bar Anneta takes you back in time with its distinctive letterboxes where the neighbors pick up their mail. Of course you’ll need to try the handmade Ibizan herbs as well as taste the island’s typical gastronomic dishes and desserts.

The first day’s trip will end in Santa Eulària, a town located between Sant Carles and Ibiza town. A pleasant stroll along the shore in Santa Eulària will lead you into any one of the many establishments located along promenade.

The church (Puig de Missa) located on top of the hill is a real gem and well worth a visit for the breathtaking views.

Discover Ibiza – Day 2: The white villages route

Ibiza’s five municipalities are home to numerous villages, some of which are charmingly small.

The second day’s route begins in Santa Gertrudis and moves on to Sant Miquel to then arrive in Sant Joan, located in the north of the island. An essential stop in Santa Gertrudis is the Costa Bar to experience their world-renowned sandwiches. Sant Miquel and Sant Joan, meanwhile, are an experience to discover Ibiza’s ‘slow life’, with nothing but calmness and tranquility.

Moving on to Santa Agnès to make a stop at Bar Cosmi and taste their famous tortillas is next on the list. The valley of almond trees is a spectacular sight at any time of year but, in February when the trees are in bloom, it is a breathtaking experience. It is possible to circumnavigate the valley which will take you to sa Penya Esbarrada, a cliff with magnificent views, also known as Las Puertas del Cielo (The Gates of Heaven).

Discover Ibiza – Day 3: Take it easy by the sea

The third and final day will take you to the western side of the island. Starting the day at ses Salines natural park, you can wander along the edge of the salt ponds and depending on the season, see the magnificent flamingos that make Ibiza their home. A walk along the shore of ses Salines will bring you to the Torre de ses Portes, one of the many defense fortresses dotted along Ibiza’s coast. From this vantage point you can see the passage between Ibiza and Formentera, es Freus.

After this relaxing walk, a stop at sa Caleta is a must. As one of the most authentic of Ibiza’s beaches, you’ll find the first of the Phoenician settlements on the island.

You could then make a move to Sant Josep with its multiple beaches to choose from. Cala Bassa, Cala d’Hort, Platges de Comte or Cala Tarida are some of the best sandy beaches on Ibiza and all of them are in Sant Josep.

A swim at any of the beautiful beaches, or even a siesta if the weather dictates, will leave you feeling both relaxed and recharged.
