The Motoclub de Formentera i Eivissa (MFiE) and the City Council of Sant Antoni kicked off the season 2022 motorcycling competitions in Ibiza this weekend with the celebration of the traditional Trial ‘Festes de Sant Antoni’.
The trial was held in the municipal grounds surrounding the sports center Sa Pedrera (Can Coix), in the area of the Ibiza Motorcycling School (EMI), where the MFiE prepared a layout of six very technical and spectacular areas with different types of terrain, with four areas with stones, rock, and earth and two areas with artificial materials (logs, tires…) to which the pilots had to ride three laps to complete a total of 18 zones in a time limit.
The event, which served as a qualifying round for the Pitiuso Trial Championship, drew the absolute categories (TR2, TR3, and TR4) as well as the basic categories for the youngest riders, among whom were participants from the Ibiza Motorcycling School in the TR4-125 and TR3-125, aged 6 to 12 years.
Meeting with motorcycling categories in Sant Antoni
Jordi Martagón (MFiE-EMI) debuted in the world of competition with only 6 years old and displayed his good technical level by winning with 26 penalty points with his electric motorcycle in the test for riders in the basic categories. Second place with 43 points went to his teammate Marc Ribas (MFiE-EMI), who debuted his 80cc motorcycle in this race, which he will fight with this season.
Toni Cardona (MFiE-EMI), the current Balearic Base 80 c.c. champion, won the TR4-125 category for children aged 9 to 12 years with 80 c.c. and 125 c.c. motorcycles, finishing with 44 points, ahead of teammate Alan Prats, who finished second with 45 points, and Andreu Roselló, who finished third with 48 points.
Xicu Mar (MFiE-EMI) won the TR3-125 class, which featured 12-year-old riders riding 125cc motorcycles, with 30 points. This young rider, who has already competed in the Spanish Trial Championship in 2021, has thus begun his season in preparation for another National during this new sport course. Lluis Planells, also from MFiE-EMI), joined him on the podium with 46 points.
