Ibiza registers the lowest incidence of covid in the Balearic Islands

The island recorded six new positives and Formentera has no new infections, according to data published in the Visor Covid tool.

The Balearic Ministry of Health confirmed yesterday six new positive cases of coronavirus on Ibiza and none on Formentera. According to the detailed data published in the Visor Covid tool, 73 new cases of covid were recorded throughout the Balearic Islands and no new deaths from the virus were reported, so the official number of deaths due to the virus since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 1,286 throughout the Comunitat.

Ibiza is the Balearic island with the lowest incidence of covid at fourteen days, with 182 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is followed by Formentera, with 201, Menorca, with 371, and Mallorca, with 447, which is at the head of the accumulated incidence at two weeks. In the archipelago as a whole, the figure stands at 404 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last fourteen days and 133 in the last week.

To assess this decrease, it should be taken into account that since last Monday coronavirus tests are only performed on vulnerable people, serious patients who must be admitted to hospital and health and social-health professionals.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 268,371 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed throughout the Balearic Islands.

The positive rate of diagnostic tests performed in the last week is 11.07% and 9.59% in the last day.

According to Visor Covid data, the highest incidence at seven days is found in the Mallorcan town of Felanitx, with 396 cases per 100,000 people, followed by Esporles (370), Mancor de la Vall (318) and Búger (276).

At fourteen days, the highest accumulated incidences are located in Artà (1,027), Felanitx (924), Petra (924) and Esporles (896).

In relation to the vaccination process, 970,091 people have now completed the vaccination schedule in the islands, 154 more in the last day. The booster dose has been received by 476,022 people.
