229 positives in the Pitiusas – best start of the week since early July

The percentage of members admitted to hospitals is decreasing, while the number of seriously ill patients is increasing

In the last four days the Balearic Ministry of Health has reported a total of 229 positive cases for covid, the best start to a week for the number of new cases recorded since the beginning of July. In the previous four weeks between Monday and Thursday between 311 and 706 infections were reported. One would have to go back to the first week of July to find a week with fewer coronavirus confirmations than this week: 110 reported between 5 and 8 July.

Yesterday, 75 new cases were diagnosed between the private laboratories and the microbiology laboratory at Can Misses Hospital: 69 in Ibiza and another six in Formentera. This, taking into account that in the same time the doctors discharged more than 100 patients (110 just in public health), means the current number of active cases of covid in the Pitiusas stands at 2,867, 1.3% less than on Wednesday and 11.56% lower than those recorded exactly a week ago. It is the lowest number of active infections registered in the last two weeks, according to the historical data of the pandemic of the Balearic Ministry of Health.

Of these, 3.4% require hospital care. A total of 97 people are currently in hospital, three less than the previous day. The number of those in critical condition, however, increased from 14 to 17 yesterday.

More people admitted to the ICU

The Can Misses Hospital has 75 patients on the ward (four of them from Formentera), in its various facilities for those affected by covid, and another eleven in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Under the care of public health, but in the hospital Son Espases in Mallorca, remain three other patients from the Pitiusas, two in the critical care unit and one on the ward, according to the Health Department of Ibiza and Formentera. To these numbers another four covid patients must added, who are in the Polyclinic Our Lady of the Rosary: four on the ward and four in ICU.
