The organisers of the International Performance Art Festival, Territori, unveiled the international artists who will be taking part in this second edition yesterday morning in front of Ibiza Town Hall. Some of them are internationally renowned, such as Kimvi Nguyen, an English artist known worldwide for her work with balloons, or Paula Baeza, a Chilean artist known for working with action art based on her own Mapuche identity.
Pep Tur, concejal for Culture and Heritage, wanted to highlight the achievements and the good organisation of the festival last year because “despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic and, bearing in mind that it was a very complicated year in terms of restrictions, we can say that in this second edition the festival has been fully established”. Pep Tur also added that “the Territori Festival fits in perfectly with the idea we have at Ibiza Town Hall of bringing culture closer to the public. With art taking place in the street, enjoying direct contact with the public, it is a good way not only of achieving aesthetic results, but also of making people think and meditate”.
Meanwhile, the Territori Festival director, Isa Sanz, said that “it has been a joy to welcome the artists participating in this year’s event”. Many of these artists were scheduled to come to the island last year but their performances were cancelled as a result of the mobility restrictions due to the pandemic. Sanz also thanked all the island’s town councils, the Consell de Ibiza and the different companies taking part for their support in setting up the art exhibition.
