The 3 Days Trail Ibiza closed its 8th year yesterday with the celebration of the last race of its program. After the initial night stage and the four catagories that took place on Saturday, the Club Trideporte bid farewell to the event with a technical route of pure Balearic trail of 10 kilometers with more than 300 meters of positive difference in altitude, which served to crown the absolute winners of the event.
The almost 500 runners of the 3 Days Trail Ibiza took off from the Cap Martinet shooting range. The route of this last stage offered magnificent panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, with paths close to the coast marked by steep and technical slopes. The tiredness and fatigue accumulated after two days of competition were not enough to prevent the runners from giving it their all and fighting until the end to improve their position in the classification.
Júlia Font, from the Wild Trail Project Nike Trail team, won the Sunday race with a time of 54:22. In addition, the Alfondeguilla native crossed the finish line as third overall, behind Yoel de Paz (44:33), male winner, and William Aveiro (46:13). The female podium was completed by Aroa Sío and Celine Gallardo (56:27), who gave the spectators a beautiful picture finishing together hand in hand.
The results obtained in this last day of competition decided the final classification of this stage race. Thus, Leire Martinez managed to win the overall Ultra in the female category, while Weiss Mario did the same in the male category. In the Marathon the absolute victories were for Aroa Sío and William Aveiro, champions in Saturday’s stage. In the Half Marathon Yoel de Paz dominated throughout the weekend and among the women Irati Matas won. Also, in the new Starter category there were no surprises and the favourites, Júlia Font and Oriol Ferré, won convincingly.
The 3 Días Trail Ibiza closed a successful eighth year on Sunday in which managed to bring together more than 500 participants, and up to 30% of all runners were female.
