The 46 year old man arrested for cutting the neck of another 51 year old man in Ibiza and accused of attempted murder was released yesterday with charges. The events occurred after a fight between the two men, both of Moroccan origin, in the parking lot of the Can Coix sports complex in Sant Antoni, around 6:30pm last Friday, February 18.
The Policía Nacional in Ibiza arrested both men after being alerted by the 091 service to identify a man in Can Misses hospital who was apparently involved in a fight and who had “serious injuries“, according to the Policía Nacional in a statement.
Initial enquiries revealed the identity of his assailant, who was found in the vicinity of the hospital with injuries compatible with the incident that were “somewhat serious”. Both the men were arrested after being treated and released from the medical centre, according to the same sources.
The Unit of Specialized and Violent Crime (Unidad de Delincuencia Especializada y Violenta, U.D.E.V.) of the Comisaría Local de Policía Nacional en Ibiza in Ibiza, in charge of the investigation, was later able to determine that the assalt was due to “disagreements between the arrested men over a work issue” and that one of them who suddenly attacked the other while they were having an argument, cutting him in the neck with a box cutter blade without a handle, which caused the aggressor to cut his own hands, requiring stitches at the hospital.
The aggressor is charged with the crime of attempted homicide, since he attacked the other in a vital area and left the place scene in his vehicle following the incident.
Stunned after the attack, victim grabs a pickaxe
The victim, who was stunned after the attack, took a pick axe from his vehicle for self defense, in case he was attacked again, according to police sources.
After a few moments he tried to leave the scene in his personal vehicle, but fainded a few minutes after he took off, opening the door and falling to the ground. He was then attended first by people who were in the area and later by the ambulance, which came to the scene and transferred him to the hospital Can Misses, says the police note.
