WhatsApp gives the green light to users’ most highly requested change

WhatsApp announces important new features

WhatsApp is working on new features that will reach users soon, such as a new mode that will enable temporary messages for all conversations, and multi-device support for up to four devices, including iPad.

The person responsible for the portal WABetainfo, known for sharing the new features of WhatsApp in the beta version before its release to the general public, has had the opportunity to speak with the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, and the CEO of WhatsApp, Will Cathcart, about the new features coming soon to the messaging application.

One of these new features is a new mode for temporary messages. It is currently possible to activate the function that allows you to set a time frame for messages in a given chat to disappear automatically.

The new mode, if activated, will implement the temporary messages in all chats at once, which will make the experience in WhatsApp in “ephemeral”, as noted by Zuckerberg. All messages will automatically disappear after seven days.

And in relation to the content that disappears, there will also be another function, ‘see once’, which will automatically delete photos and videos when the receiver has seen them, although the ability to take screenshots will remain.

Both the temporary message mode and the ‘view once’ feature will soon reach WhatsApp beta participants. The company hopes these new features will make WhatsApp messages “more private and secure”.

WhatsApp’s Multi-device support

Another new feature has to do with WhatsApp’s multi-device support. This is a feature that the company has been working on for some time, which will allow you to use your WhatsApp account on a device other than your primary mobile device, without having to have an active internet connection on it.

Zuckerberg noted that it has been “a big technological challenge”, but also that they have already solved it and expect to be able to launch it soon. Specifically, Cathcart confirmed that multi-device support will be in public beta “within the next month or two”.

With multi-device support, messages will maintain end-to-end encryption, and users will be able to use the same account on up to four devices, which may include iPad.
