Two weeks of exodus due to change of turf at Can Misses

UD Ibiza will plant more resistant grass in the stadium and annex field, forcing them to relocate their training sessions and CD Ibiza games

The Unión Deportiva Ibiza of Second Division and the Club Deportivo Ibiza of Second RFEF will be forced to change their headquarters for at least two weeks due to the replacement of the natural grass planted on the fields of the Can Misses-Power Electronics Stadium and the annex field of Can Misses 3.

As announced yesterday by Radio Ibiza, the grass that UD Ibiza planted this summer in both sports venues for their participation in LaLiga SmartBank will have to be pulled up and another type of grass more suitable for the winter months planted, something “that happens in most fields of the Mediterranean,”stressed the sources of the sky-blue club to Diario de Ibiza.

This newspaper confirmed with the City Council of Eivissa that the Sports Board yesterday passed on the information provided by the club chaired by Amadeo Salvo to CD Ibiza and athletic clubs that will be affected by this replanting, so that they take it into account in the coming weeks. The Consistory pointed out that the Board has been made available to the clubs “to try to find alternatives to the inconvenience that this can generate for them,” especially in the case of CD Ibiza, which after debuting this Sunday in its new home against Tarazona must find accommodation in another venue of the island, both to carry out their training and to receive CD Ebro, on September 26th on the fourth day of Second RFEF.

The work to replace the Bermuda grass to the Ray Grass, more resistant to the rain and the low temperatures, will begin next Monday in Can Misses 3 and heavier machinery will be used during the first three days. After that, the field will be closed for two weeks while the new turf is being laid. During this period it will not be possible for football teams to train or play official league matches.
