Weather in Spain for Christmas: Hectic forecasts and sudden changes

Climate forecasts for the period leading up to Christmas are somewhat mysterious and even whimsical: until thursday 19 december, high pressure should dominate the scenario with lots of sunshine in the mountains and on the coasts, while fog and low clouds are likely in inland areas. In short, the weather is expected to be good.

A first whim (a trend evidently to be confirmed) could descend from the polar areas, along with Santa Claus, between December 20 and 22it would be a “polar missile”, accompanied by a sharp drop in temperatures and widespread rainfall, which would reach Europe but it is not yet known if it will reach our country.

Subsequently, temperatures should increase significantly with the rotation of the western quadrant currents (the Atlantic Gateway is reopened).

During Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, moderate weather is expected over much of the country. The temperatures will be mild for the season, especially in the south and on the Mediterranean coast. The possibility of light rain is also expected in the north of the peninsula and in areas of the northwest.

The end of the year will bring an increase in cold. Minimum temperatures will drop markedly inland, with widespread frost during the nights. Coastal regions will enjoy more stable weather, albeit with cool temperatures.

These are trends to be confirmed, forecasts also elaborated with artificial intelligence, projections that, as we well know, need dozens of further confirmations to indicate the main trajectory of Christmas weather
