National Police officers in Ibiza have arrested a teenager and have investigated another, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of discovery and disclosure of secrets for arranging a sexual encounter with a minor girl and recording it with a cell phone without the girl’s knowledge, the police force itself has reported in a note.

The girl denounced the facts in mid-March before the investigation group UFAM of the National Police. The teenager claimed to have been recorded by a friend of her boyfriend while she was having a sexual encounter with him. The minor had made an appointment with her partner to meet in an apartment, where the boyfriend took a friend of his, who, according to what he told them, would go away from them to leave them alone. The victim and her partner had a sexual encounter which the friend recorded with his cell phone without her prior knowledge or authorization.

The National Police has arrested the author of the recording and has identified the other person involved because of suspicions that he acted in agreement with him. As the note says, “given the seriousness of these facts and after being identified the 2 minors, the UFAM of Ibiza proceeded to the seizure of cell phones to prevent the dissemination of the video and the arrest of the teenager who recorded the meeting as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of disclosure of secrets, taking statement as investigated not detained the other minor in case there might have been a prior concert to record the victim.”

The facts have been brought to the attention of the Prosecutor’s Office for Minors of Palma, being to the awaiting trial. The investigation is still open to check if the video was forwarded to third parties by any means, the statement said.

In relation to sex crimes in the digital environment, the National Police takes the opportunity to remember that “from the moment a photo or video is sent through any social network, we lose control over it or in any case, we will depend on the goodwill of third parties so that they do not forward it reaching unwanted destinations. That is why it is very important to think about what material we share in our networks and chat groups,” he stresses.

“Ultimately, if we receive intimate images of third parties we must report it to the police and in no case share or forward, as we would be incurring in a serious crime,” he reminds. “In the event that two people decide to exchange such material, assuming they are of legal age to use the network or messaging application with which they send them, it should be very clear that implicitly will be present the prohibition of forwarding them to third parties, and that if the relationship between the parties changes because one of them regrets, or if they had a romantic relationship and stop maintaining it, they must be immediately deleted from any type of support or storage.”
