The government of the Balearic Islands is set to approve a decree law aimed at speeding up the granting of seasonal taxi licences between May 1 and October 31. The move is intended to address problems caused by a lack of taxis in Mallorca last summer. The legislation will allow municipalities across the islands to grant licences without the need for a concession plan, although these licences must be issued by means of “a reasoned administrative act”. The decree will also enable transport companies to sell individual tickets to fill previously contracted buses.
