GEN-GOB Ibiza: “The Tagomago kiosk has had a demolition order for 20 years”

Tagomago must be demolished: Santa Eulària City Council insists on claiming that the island be declared a nature reserve

The Consell de Govern gave the green light yesterday to the decree approving the Natura 2000 management plan for the islets of the Llevant of Ibiza. Thus, Tagomago and its marine area, the islets of Santa Eulària, Rodona and es Canar, which until now were classified as Sites of Community Importance (SCI), will be declared Special Areas of Conservation (SAC).

An announcement that was received positively on the island, although with nuances. “In principle, that a plan is approved and that these areas become ZENs is good,” declared the president of GEN-GOB, Joan Carles Palerm. However, he was critical of the delay in its approval, “It is a legal obligation that we had not been able to fulfill and in which we were long overdue,” he added.

Palerm stressed that it is “positive” news, but “we still do not have the document and we do not know what the plan is, although the versions we saw had many improvements. We will have to take a good look at the content,” he said.

Tagomago beach bar must be demolished

Regarding the request that the Balearic Govern will make to Costas to demolish the beach bar of Tagomago, the president of GEN reiterated that the structure “has had a demolition order for 20 years. By court ruling, moreover. Who has to do it and who it depends on I do not know, but the Tagomago beach bar demolition has to be done at once because you have to comply with the regulations. I hope it is done as soon as possible,” he said.

For its part, the Consell de Ibiza explained that, “in the absence of reading the fine print and being able to analyze the detail of this plan, in principle we look favorably upon what has been approved, at least if it coincides with the background of that which the plenary of the Consell and the City Council of Santa Eulària in 2017 asked for. We have to see the fine print, but the protection of this area was a unanimous request of institutions and fishermen.”
