The storm Denise arrives on Ibiza and Formentera with intense wind gusts up to 100km/h

A very active Atlantic front with violent storms will cross the Pitiusas Islands tonight.

During Monday night the passing of a very active Atlantic front with violent storms will bring  strong local showers and also very strong gusts of wind to Ibiza and Formentera. The squall that will form in the Mediterranean tonight has been christened Denise and will generate very strong winds in the Balearic Islands and southern Catalonia. There will also be a significant sea storm.

The week begins with a warning in the Pitiusas from the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet) for a significant risk of strong gusts of wind that could reach 100 kilometers per hour.

Storm alerts

Ibiza and Formentera are today on yellow alert from 6pm to 9:59pm for maximum gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour from the west. From 9opm the alert becomes orange. There is also a significant risk of storms from midnight until 6:00am on Tuesday.

The alert ends at 6am on Tuesday when the risk will drop to yellow for wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour and northwest wind until 12 noon.

From 6pm the Pitiusas are at yellow risk for coastal phenomena with westerly winds of more than 50 kilometers per hour (force 7) and waves of 3 to 4 meters. From 9pm the alert becomes orange with gusts of 60 to 75 kilometers per hour (force 8) and waves of 7 to 8 meters.

Temperatures rise with minimums of 11 degrees and maximums of 23 degrees.
