Ibiza and Formentera doubled the number of private solar energy installations in 2022

Ibiza exceeds 1,000 private solar energy generation points with an installed capacity of 10.6 Mw, while Formentera reaches 100 self-consumption points that generate 0.8 Mw of power.

On the roofs of Ibiza and Formentera 565 new solar energy self-consumption installations were completed last year between individuals and companies. A figure that in one year has doubled the figures of energy self-consumption in the Pitiusas to reach 1,133 solar energy generation points of private individuals.

With these data, the Pitiusas Islands maintain an exponential growth in recent years of new energy self-consumption facilities. The figure has almost doubled from 2020 and 2021 (from 282 to 568) and in 2022 the pace is maintained and continues to double the total number of installations.

The current volume of solar panels in private installations already generates 11.4 Mw of power on Ibiza and Formentera, which represents an increase of 85% in terms of solar energy generated with respect to 2021.

As for the distribution by islands, on Ibiza the Govern has registered 1,033 self-consumption installations that generate 10.6 Mw of power, while on Formentera there are a total of 100 installations with a capacity of 0.8 Mw.

Sant Josep at the forefront of solar energy self-consumption

If you zoom in on this analysis of the evolution of self-consumption on Ibiza, Sant Josep is the municipality with the highest percentage growth in self-consumption.

The number of installations in 2022 grew by 134% (reaching 339) and the capacity went up to 184% (3.8 Mw). Given that Sant Josep is the municipality with the largest surface area, it is interesting to go to the percentage data, given that in general numbers it will tend to be that with the most self-consumption due to the number of scattered dwellings.

It is followed in relative growth by Sant Antoni, which reaches 231 energy self-consumption installations (110%), which generate 1.9 Mw (98%). In Santa Eulร ria there are already close to 300 self-consumption installations, 294 (78%), with an installed capacity of 2.4 Mw (54%). At the bottom in terms of relative growth are Sant Joan, with 83 installations (51%) and 0.9 Mw capacity (29%), and Vila with 86 self-consumption solar energy installations (62%) and a capacity of 1.3 Mw (26%)
