“A Flower Power of those that make epoch”. This is the goal that has been set by the City Council of Sant Josep for this year’s edition of the Flower Power of the festival of Sant Josep, the most multitudinous event of the festival program. There will be two stages, three dj’s and performances by Smoking Stones and The Metrallas, as just announced by the Consistory. In addition, for the first time the 60s and 70s will extend their domains and colonize new spaces: the renovated Town Hall Square and the now pedestrian streets that surround it.

One of the stages will be in the square annexed to the Town Hall, in front of the pharmacy. There will be where the dj Javi Box and Jordi Cardona will start DJing at 8:00 p.m. At the same time, but on the second stage, which will be on one side of City Hall, will play Ric Jazzbo, author, in addition, of the poster of the party. For an hour “He will not make concessions to other music that is not flower and authentically hippy,” says the City Council.

The Metrallas and Smoking Stones
The Metrallas will take over from Jazzbo at around 9:00 p.mto fill the rockabilly area. Ricky Lee (singer), Rafa Bonet (bass) and Peter Ortega (percussion), accompanied on this occasion by Ivan Pacheco (guitar), will perform from versions of the first rockabilly songs of the 50s to songs of the 80s revival of this genre, with a more punk touch. The goal: to get everyone dancing.

The live performances will continue at half past ten in the evening on the stage of the pharmacy, where the Catalans Smoking Stones will be on stage. The Rolling Stones tribute band is an old acquaintance of the regulars at the Flower de Sant Josep, where in 2008 they starred in one of the most memorable scenes of the festival: appearing playing on a platform of containers on the avenue that crosses the town. But it has not been their only performance on the island, which they have visited frequently.
The Town Hall emphasizes that, as every year, there will be special decoration and lighting in the town during the festival, although at the moment there is no information as to whether there will be park-and-ride lots or special buses to get to and from Sant Josep during the night.
