Passport control at Ibiza airport reinforced with almost 100 Policía Nacional officers

Eight more agents per shift at the Ibiza airport will implemented during the summer to counteract the increase in work due to the departure of the British from the European Union.

The British is one of the main tourist markets for Ibiza and with the departure of this country from Europe, the kickoff of the summer season and most having already forgotten the covid restrictions, has forced the increase in staff of Policía Nacional at the Ibiza airport to reduce the queues forming at the airport passport control, now that these citizens are outside the Schengen area.

Specifically there are almost 100 agents, which represents a reinforcement of eight more officers in each shift to control the entries and exits of people with non-EU passports throughout the summer.

Ibiza airport reinforced since Easter

In fact, the service at Ibiza airport has been reinforced since the Easter holidays, as confirmed by official sources, and will continue until September. As in the rest of the tourist terminals, the problem has been caused by the Brexit.

Reinforcement of 500 Policía Nacional agents across the country

In fact, the National Police planned weeks ago a “structural” reinforcement of 500 agents for the fixed workforce that provide service in the twelve main airports of Spain, according to sources of this body. In addition, they reiterated that they have had “no complaints” for delays in passport stamping controls.

In particular, and despite the criticism for the alleged 15,000 missed connections throughout the country that Iberia relates to the lack of agents and the delay of controls, the aforementioned sources maintain that the General Commissariat for Foreigners and Borders has not received any complaints from passengers or from AENA or the airlines operating in Spanish airports, reports Europa Press.
