The Maritime Service of the Guardia Civil has arrested a 43 year old man of Spanish nationality for transporting 200 kilos of hashish in a boat, as reported by the Guardia Civil in a press release.
The facts date back to Sunday afternoon, when the agents received a communication about the sighting of an inflatable that seemed to be transporting drugs. From that moment on, a search operation was initiated with the participation of the Air Service of the Civil Guard with its helicopter, as well as two vessels of the Provincial Maritime Service.
The crew member, who was alone on the boatupon seeing the agents, he threw several bags he was carrying in his boat into the sea, so they sent the coordinates to the boats for interception. The patrol boat ‘Sa Costera’ of the Guardia Civil, managed to intercept it. In turn, another vessel of the Maritime Service moved to the point where the five suitcases had been thrown overboard, recovered them and verified that inside there were several packages sealed with hashish and weighing a total of 200 kilos.
Once it was verified that the packages contained drugs they arrested the man as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime. In addition, he was carrying 1,995 euros in banknotes of different values.
