The traditional schooner ‘Beluga 1’ left the shipyard in 1999 and years later was acquired in Turkey by the New Zealand designer and actress Anouska Hempel, Lady Weinberg, who subjected it to a thorough restructuring that resulted in a magnificent luxury vessel that, unlike the motorboats, sails the waters of Ibiza with a slowness and calm more typical of the Mediterranean.
Hempel, in addition to enjoying her luxury sailboat, also rented it, but in 2016 she decided to pass it on. The sale price and the buyer are unknown, but everything suggests that its new owner wants to enjoy the ‘Beluga 1’ exclusively, because it is no longer available as a charter.
Luxury on the water
The schooner, which is docked in the port of Sant Antoni, is built from wood and can accommodate six people distributed over six cabins, in addition to six crew members. It is 28 meters long and, thanks to its characteristics, it can sail in shallow waters to enter some of the magnificent coves of the island.
The ‘Beluga 1’ is remarkable for its black sails that which when hoisted give the schooner a majestic air. Inside, the salon is fully air-conditioned and furnished with large sofas to port and starboard. The aft deck, protected by a canvas awning, has chairs and armchairs. Outside you can host a meal for up to 20 guests and organize a party for about 50 people.
