Man recruited youths on the Internet to sexually assault them on Ibiza

The arrested man has accumulated up to seven restraining orders from several boys on the island for sexually assaulting and harassing.

The Ibiza Policía Nacional arrested a 31 year old Spanish man on Friday for recruiting young people on the Internet and sexually assaulting them. According to a press release from the Cuerpo Nacional de Policía, the man, who already had a record for the same offences, contacted young people whom he deceived in order to sexually assault them.

“Two underage brothers reported to the Family and Women’s Care Unit at the beginning of last week that a man with a false name was harassing them,” explains the Police in the release. The man had spoken through social networks with the older brother a few months ago to summon him to a home “with various excuses” and sexually assault him. “The older brother at that time kept silent, but took the step of reporting him because a few days ago [the accused] was trying the same with his younger brother, whom he was convincing to perform the same acts,” the note details.

The arrested man, according to the police, sent erotic photographs and videos to the brothers, as well as lewd messages. Afterwards, he would delete the content, but the brothers saved screenshots and recorded videos from another device.

Background for sexually assaulting other  the same offences

The agents began an investigation and identified the man, who was recognized by both minors, according to the statement. “After the arrest, the agents located the house where the first aggression took place, which was a rented room from which he was expelled before the end of the month,” continues the police. The man harassed a minor who used to go to the house and his friends, to whom he invited them to play console games in his room “and offered them drugs and gifts”, says the statement.

After locating the room, the agents found his current home, “which the man tried to hide from the police and denied that he lived there even though his belongings and personal documents were inside”.

The man had already been arrested on two occasions accused of the same crimes and, according to the police, had acted in the same way. In the two previous cases, the Police details that the man contacted boys between 13 and 17 years old through their social networks, with whom he talked and gained their trust and discovered the type of video games they liked in order to generate an interesting conversation. “He would also offer them drugs if he saw that the young people were using,” the note indicates. The goal was to trick and convince the boys to go to his house so that no one would see him. “He also erased conversations and photographs that could link him with the crime,” the note states.

In addition, the Police reports that, during these years, the detainee has accumulated up to seven restraining orders from several minors from different parts of the island, “which indicates that he continues to try to take advantage of them, taking more and more security measures despite the arrests and investigations to which he was subjected.”

Once arrested and brought to court, he was imprisoned, and the investigation has remained open to locate more victims, explains the statement.

La Unidad de Atención a la Familia y Mujer (UFAM) of the Comisaria de Policía Nacional de Ibiza offers assistance to people who suffer this type of crime, as well as to minors who may be victims of this particular man sexually assaulting them. The agents ask the victims to contact them to inform them of these incidents so that they can clarify the behavior of this man on other occasions. Possible victims can contact, confidentially, this email address of the UFAM: ibiza.ufam.investigacion@policia.es.
