Incidence rate plummets and turns Ibiza and Formentera towns pink

The virus has a greater impact on Sant Antoni and Santa Eulària than on Vila

The coronavirus incidence rate in Ibiza and Formentera towns has plummeted this weekend, according to the latest data from the Balearic Ministry of Health. Yesterday, Eivissa and Formentera were shaded completely in pink on the covid viewer map, far from the purple and violet of previous weeks. All areas with the exception of Sant Antoni are below 200 infections per hundred thousand inhabitants over two weeks.

The most spectacular drop in the number of cases of the virus has been recorded in the town of Eivissa, which in three days has gone from 297.3 cases to 170.2 (42.7% less). The reduction in the seven-day indicator is not as marked (20.6%), although this figure is well below half of 170, which heralds a rapid and continuous fall in the coming days.

In fact, Vila is already far from being the municipality with the highest incidences in the Comunitat. It is not even third, a position it had recently fallen to. At the moment the area that is home to the island’s capital is ranked 15th. Moreover, it is not even the most affected in the Pitiusas. Above Vila is Sant Antoni, with 207.2 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants over two weeks, which completes the top ten of the most affected areas in the Comunitat. Santa Eulària also surpasses Vila’s figures. Although at fourteen days it recorded the same number of cases in relation to the population (170.2) a few more are added over one week (55.9 against 52.8 of Vila) which places it in 14th position.
