The owner of the Cala Tarida estate where he accumulates tons of polluting waste and allegedly responsible for the illegal anchorages in Porroig, has been sentenced for threatening to kill the Councillor for the Environment of Sant Josep, Mónica Fernández, with a fine of about eight euros a day for a month. “It comes very cheap,” Fernández lamented to Diario de Ibiza.
The sentence was handed down in September of last year and was in response to the threatening expletives E.S.C. hurled against the councilwoman and two municipal officials when in May 2021 he was handed the notification that a new file was being opened against him for his infractions. E.S.C. went so far as to exclaim that “Sant Josep is full of forests and weeds are a great fuel”, recalled Fernández.
More environmental protectionists threatened
On June 2nd, E.S.C. was again denounced for threatening to kill members of the protectionist platform Maltesa de Mar. These activists were in Porroig to check the evolution of the seabed after the removal of 91 illegal structures for anchoring by the City Council. The accused is apparently responsible for installing and managing illegal moorings for anchoring boats in this bay of Sant Josep.
According to the complaint filed with the Guardia Civl, after several dives and while still in the water (without using professional equipment, only goggles and a snorkel), two of the complainants, one of them a marine biologist, saw how they were approached by “a small boat driven by a man about 40 or 50 years old”. The man driving the boat did not turn off the engine despite being a few meters from the two swimmers, rebuked them and asked them “what they were doing in this place”, as indicated in the complaint, filed on June 2nd. In addition, he told them that “they could not be there, that he was in charge of controlling that area”.
