The City Council of Santa Eulร ria has carried out an inspection campaign aimed at checking the legality in the installation and operation of industrial activities. The actions have mainly focused on inspecting, closing and sanctioning activities that have been arising in the rustic areas adjacent to urban land for industrial use existing in the municipalitythis could have led to the creation of so-called false urban areas by illegally extending the perimeter of these zones.
As a result of the sanctioning proceedings instituted in this respect, economic sanctions have been imposed, which in their totality amount up to the moment to the 283,976.20 euros, as reported by the City Council in a press release.
Of the inspected facilities, the great majority correspond to storage and stockpiling activities of industrial products, industrial machinery, construction materials, as well as the habilitation of areas for the stockpiling, treatment, transformation and valorization of aggregates, including what was to become an asphalt plant.
Closure of illegal activities
In all of the actions, the illegal activities detected have been closed down, which in several cases has even led to their sealing by the Local Police, since the precautionary closure order issued by the promoters of the activity has been disobeyed, according to the Consistory’s note.
Likewise, the City Council reports that it is currently in the process of formulating the modification of the municipal planning for the expansion and management of industrial land in the municipality, which was published on the document of advance in July of 2022 with opening of a process of public information to gather suggestions and contributions to it, so that the inspection actions carried out are necessary for its correct design and management.
