On Wednesday, OD Hotels unveiled its latest art collection in the form of an NFT gallery, which has been titled “2.0 Expansion.” The collection has been extended to include new pieces and is displayed in the Altitude room, which was designed by 0xWolfgang, a leading metaverse architect who constructed the room on the Cyber platform. The presentation was held at the Ocean Drive Madrid hotel and was led by OD Group’s art director, รlvaro Gonzรกlez, and events manager, Jaime Irles, who showcased the project and provided attendees with a tour of the gallery.
The Ocean Drive NFT Gallery currently showcases 60 works, with an additional 30 new pieces recently added to the collection, bringing the total capacity to house up to 110 works. The gallery features an impressive array of artwork from both local and international artists. Notable additions to the collection include works by Joseba Elorza (a.k.a. MiraRuido) and Invader303, Stefano Colferai, Tony Babel, John Karel, WhatIsReal, Sutu, TokBLOK, among others.
During the presentation, attendees were able to explore the NFT gallery on any mobile device, tablet, computer, or even using VR glasses to fully immerse themselves in the experience. To achieve this, some of the artworks on display were showcased on high-quality screens, and by scanning a QR code, visitors could easily access and view the works on their cell phones.
The artists
he Ocean Drive NFT Gallery boasts an impressive collection of works by a variety of artists, including t_diary, Jben, Alex Soto, Ivan Solbes, letypage, MR Reychel, Maria Iriarte, Tristan Belenguer, Alex Torres, Julia Carretero, Laura Rahola, Raquel Meyers, and รlvaro Gonzรกlez, all of whom have contributed their works to the gallery. In addition, the gallery features captivating pieces by promising international artists such as Matรญas Vivanco (Brellias), Lemuet, Priya Mistry, Arya Mularama, Ilkin Abbaszadeh, and many more.
Following the tour of the new gallery, the attendees were treated to a masterclass led by Toni Planells, a 3D artist and game developer hailing from Ibiza, known by his handle @Tulfix. The artist provided a brief introduction to NFTs, delving into important topics such as security, generative art, metadata, smart contracts, promotion, and social networks.
Toni Planells, who received the Ocean Drive NFT Gallery award in the fifth edition of the OD Art Awards held in October 2022, was recognized for his outstanding contributions. The central theme for the awards was ‘The Island of the Future: Ibiza 2100‘. Since 2018, these awards have aimed to acknowledge the best contemporary artists in the local scene. The competition is an artistic and ecological initiative promoted by the OD Group, encouraging sustainability in the arts.
In September 2021, OD Hotels made a groundbreaking move in the hospitality industry by creating its first NFT collection, becoming the first hotel chain to venture into the world of digital art.
