Sant Joan will be filled again this Saturday, March 25, with one of those gastronomic appointments that are so popular in Ibiza, the third edition Gastronomic Festival of sa Sรจpia, which has not been held since 2019 due to covid restrictions. It is organized by the Sant Joan Festival Commission, in collaboration with the City Council, the Consell, Peix Nostrum and the fishermen’s guilds of Eivissa and Sant Antoni.
Registrations are open until this Friday at noon and there are still places left. A maximum of 30 teams, which can be amateurs or professionals, have been established and can be registered by emailing alcaldia@santjoandelabritja.com or by calling 971333218 ext 5.
The festival will begin at 11.30 a.m., when the teams will start cooking, although the inauguration for the public will be at 1 p.mwith ball pagรจs by the Colla de Labritja, brulada de corn and es Carro de sa Sรจpia. The gastronomic contest will begin at 2 pm and the prizes, consisting of different trophies, will be awarded at 4.30 pm. A jury composed of professionals will be in charge of evaluating the different dishes presented to the contest.

Each team can elaborate any recipe with cuttlefishwhether they are fried, rice or stews. They will have to make a minimum of 50 tapas, which can be sold from 6 euros, at the price they deem appropriate. The Festivities Commission will sell strips of tickets of 3 and 2 euros with which you can buy food and drink.
Each team will be able to buy the cuttlefish on its own, or to do it to the brotherhoods, with the quality mark Peix Nostrum.
In addition to the gastronomic tasting, throughout the day there will be exhibition of fishing arts, crafts and the cycle of Navigation and Coastal Fishing of the CIFP Can Marines. There will also be children’s workshops and musical performancesthe Rosemary Family, Dr. Trapero and Esta me la sรฉ.
In order to reduce traffic problems, a minitrain servicerun by Toni Musson, from the Benirrร s parking lot, behind Can Curunรฉ, to the village. The first departure will take place at 1 pm and the last return at 7.30 pm.
