The monthly report provided by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the Balearic Islands confirms that last April was especially wet in the Pitiusas. More than double the usual rainfall. Specifically, 91% more rain on Ibiza and no less than 170% more on Formentera.
Heavy Rainfalls
This high level of rainfall is explained by averages. Thus, while on Ibiza it is normal to record an average of 33.3 liters per square meter in April, last month it reached 63.7 liters per square meter. The figure for Formentera is tremendous: 56.5 liters per square meter when the historical average in April is 20.9. More than 2.7 times above normal.
On the 20th, 23.2 liters per square meter were registered in Can Vicenรง den Xumeu, on Formentera, the heaviest of the month in the Pitiusas. And 20.8 in Sant Antoni the same day.
