In just a few hours, Ibizaโs solidarity with Valencia has exceeded all expectations. Following the announcement on Wednesday, October 30, by the Valencian Community Cultural Association of Sant Antoni, the groupโs phones have been ringing non-stop with one consistent message: โHow can I help?โ
The association, which is already actively organizing, will channel aid from Ibiza to support those affected in Valencia, with assistance from the Sa Nostra Falla association, the Sant Antoni Town Council, and the Local Police. They welcome all contributions, whether in the form of needed supplies or volunteer help. Several hotels that plan to update their furniture this winter have already donated a hundred mattresses.
Urgent items needed include:
- Blankets
- Comforters
- Bedding
- Sleeping bags
- Sports and warm clothing
- Towels
The association requests that all items be wrapped in transparent film with the size or quantity clearly labeled and visible, emphasizing that donations should be โin good condition.โ
Donations can be delivered starting November 1 to the Local Police offices in Sant Antoni, located at 33 Alicante Street. The collection campaign will run until November 15.
Numerous establishments across the island have offered to serve as collection points to facilitate support for Valencia from all areas of Ibiza. However, those setting up collection points are asked to transport all donations to Sant Antoni, as the association currently lacks the personnel and vehicles to manage the collection.
In Vila, Can Tina restaurant on Sant Cristรฒfol Street has joined as a collection point, with its chef, Arnau Sala, hailing from Valencia. In Formentera, the Valencian Falla Association has also mobilized to support their fellow Valencians. Collections will begin next Monday at the parish hall in Sant Ferran. รlvaro Villaseรฑor from the Formentera association suggests that people thoughtfully consider what they can and want to donate and bring everything in a single trip. โThere is a shipment planned for the end of next week and another for the following week,โ he notes, explaining that, since theyโre not on the mainland, daily shipments are not feasible, so there is โsome leeway.โ
Current Collection Points (subject to updates):
VILA
- Can Tina, Sant Cristรฒfol Street, 15 (open 12:00 โ 23:30)
SANT ANTONI
- Local Police of Sant Antoni, Alicante Street, 33
FORMENTERA
- Parish Hall of Sant Ferran Church (November 4-8, 10:00 โ 13:00 and 17:00 โ 20:00)
For now, establishments that have donated mattresses are being asked to hold them until a larger space, provided by the Sant Antoni Town Council, becomes available to store all contributions in preparation for their shipment to Valencia.
In the coming days, volunteers will also be needed to organize and palletize donations for transport. Once everything is in place, the Valencian community in Sant Antoni will put out a call for volunteers to assist with these efforts.
Anyone wishing to help can contact the association through their social media or by calling 609229027 or 626689754.
