For the moment, the Govern rules out inspecting and fining commercial establishments on Ibiza and the rest of the islands of the archipelago that do not comply with the state decree on energy saving measures. This was stated yesterday on Ibiza by Jesus Jurado, regional secretary of Productive Sectors after holding a meeting with representatives of the Petita i Mitjana Empresa d”Eivissa i (Pimeef) and the Chamber of Commerce, along with the director general of Commerce, Miquel Piรฑol, where he explained that for now, there will only be “advisory visits to businesses”.
Energy saving measures: The Govern will not yet be carrying out inspections
“Applying the BOE and energy saving legislation to reality generates doubts and, therefore, a period of adaptation is needed,” said Jurado in statements to the media, while stressing that “the Administration must be sensitive and empathetic with traders“. “The Govern does not intend to carry out exhaustive inspections. We are in the period of deployment of the energy saving regulations, it is time to inform and advise in order to resolve doubts and that people can apply the energy saving measures appropriately depending on their businesses,” added Jurado.
The regional secretary of Productive Sectors stressed that the bulk of the doubts focus on “how to close the stores.” In this sense, he indicated that “the physical closing of the premises is not necessary”ย and that “air curtains with a similar efficiency” can be used. “In the end, the idea is to save energy and to do so, the most appropriate system for each business should be used,” he said.
‘Blackout’ of shop windows
He also pointed out that another of the recurring doubts resolved yesterday on Ibiza, is that the ‘blackout’ of the lights of the store windows is mandatory if at that time they are closed. “If an establishment has a longer timetable evidently the shop windows can remain lit”.
Without specifying more, Jurado announced that the Govern is preparingย a line of economic aid to facilitate the traders with the implementation of the measures decreed by the Government before the energy crisis produced by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
At the moment, according to Jurado, the results of the implementation of this plan are “positive”. “Everyone is willing to comply with the decree, which is for the benefit of all, not only for the environment, but also to achieve significant economic savings”, he stressed.
