The six-year-old girl of British nationality who was admitted yesterday at 8 p.m. to the ICU of the Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza in critical condition after a traffic accident in Ibiza in which her mother died was transferred at midnight to the Son Espases Hospital in Mallorca.
The 40-year-old Norwegian woman who was also involved in the accident remains hospitalized in Can Misses, as reported this morning by the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera.
The girl’s mother, 42 years old, died this Wednesday afternoon as a result of a head-on collision in her vehicle just past the ITV traffic circle on the santa Gertrudis road, specifically at kilometer 4 of the road. The accident resulted in two other injuries, the daughter of the deceased, who was traveling in the same vehicle, and the Norwegian woman who was driving another of the cars involved.
Invasion of the oncoming lane
Three vehicles were involved in the accident. The accident occurred after the driver of a rental Toyota C-HR lost control of the vehicle and hit the guardrail, reported the Guardia Civil. As a consequence of the impact, the car rebounded and invaded the opposite lane, so it collided head-on with the Ford Focus in which the fatal victim and her daughter were traveling. The mother died at the scene of the accident as a result of the severe injuries suffered, while her daughter had to be taken to the hospital also with multiple injuries.
The driver of a tourism Opel Meriva which was driving behind it overturned on the shoulder while trying to avoid the accident. The two vehicles that collided head-on were completely destroyed in the middle of the road. Four Grรบas Ibiza roadside assistance teams, including a boom crane, worked in the area to remove the vehicles.
A basic life support ambulance and a mobile ICU went to the scene, reported the SAMU 061 emergency service. The medical staff evacuated the girl and activated the polytrauma code. Also present at the emergency were the firefighters, the Guardia Civil, agents of the Local Police of Santa Eulร ria and members of Xarxa Viร ria.
