The Consell de Ibiza participated on Wednesday in the commission to fight against intrusion in the cab and car rental with driver sector, where it was agreed to intensify actions against illegal transport this summer in Ibiza and Mallorca, because “intrusiveness is one of the most serious problems suffered” by this group.
This was explained by the second vice-president and councilor of Transport, Javier Torres, who stressed the importance of institutional collaboration to fight against illegal transport.
The conseller was gratefull that the request of the Consell to have reinforcements and fight against this intrusiveness is addressed and institutional collaboration and joint actions against unfair competition is considered “essential”.
According to him, the displacement of operators to Ibiza from Mallorca has a discouraging effect and, when they operate on the island, their “actions are intense”.
In parallel, the Consell has begun the planning the inspection plan for this season, when the professionals of the institution return to collaborate with local police and security forces and bodies.
Torres also celebrates that the Govern has accepted the legislative change demanded by the institution to streamline procedures and reduce the crowding of seized vehicles from people charged with illegal transport. From now on, the vehicle may be returned when the technicians consider that its value does not serve as a guarantee of payment of the fine. If the owner does not come to collect it, as often happens, the vehicle may be dismantled.
