The City Council of Sant Josep presented this Thursday the program of the patron saint festivitieswhich will last throughout the month of March and the first week of April, in which music will once again be one of the main protagonists. In fact, each weekend will revolve around a decade, beginning with the Flower Power oldest on the island and ending at the turn of the millennium. (Consult the complete festival program)
Among the names that will parade on the stages during the festivities are The Late Motiv Bandwith the musicians who animated the program presented by Andreu Buenafuentewhich will be the highlight of the Festival, on Sunday, March 19, or Javier Ojeda, the voice of Danza Invisible, who will perform on March 18th, Sant Josep’s Saturday at the movida festival.
Throughout the next few weeks also return appointments such as the Correbars, which completes XIII editions, and new ones are added, such as the first Frita de Pulpo Conteston Saturday April 1, or the popular sobrassada torrada by the village associations, which opens the festivities on Saturday March 4 in the church square from 8 pm. In this event will also be the reading of the proclamation of the festival, which this year is in charge of Marga Ferrer, from Can na Vinya, with the music of the Groovy Brothers.
As always, the program includes shows and theater for the whole family, outings and exhibitions to learn about the cultural and natural heritage of the municipality and several sports competitions, as well as a new space to celebrate many of the events, the new pedestrian area around the Town Hall.
“Much of the program will be on the street now that we have won the cars a large space in the center of town, which will be for people,” explained the Councillor for Festivals, Cristina Ribas.
8M and Afonib
The first week of the program is marked by the commemoration of the 8Mwomen’s Day, with meetings such as the presentation of Bร rbara Munar’s book ‘Queens without rules’, at Can Jeroni on March 9, but also coincides with a new edition of the Afonib Nature Photography Conferencewhich will be held from March 3 to 5 at the same venue, and the traditional ascent to sa Capelleta d’en Serra with a picnic lunch on Sunday, March 5 at 11.30 am.
The following weekend is one of the highlights of the program, with the Flower Power, which starts for the little ones at 17.30 with Lali Begood and her show ‘The Secret Garden’, in which sounds from ska to pop and dixieland. In addition, there will be animation in the streets with Acrobatika, and the mixes of DJ Pato and DJ AL to make ‘tardeo’ before the music of Rock the Night and DJs Jordi Cardona and Javi Box until the early hours of the morning.
On Sunday the party continues with a new edition in the street of Viu Sant Josep! with the Vermouth at 45rpm at 1 p.m. and the concert of the Municipal Band at 5 p.m., food and drinks by the associations of the village with fun until sunset.
The friday, march 17 an exhibition of traditional dress by the Grup Folclรฒric de Sant Josep opens at 7 pm before welcoming the dancers of the Grupo Etnogrรกfico das Mariรฑas de Ferrol in the square. The next day comes the Movida with an edition called ‘the trilogy’ in the parking lot of Cas Vildo, with music from 18.30 to heat up the atmosphere before Javier Ojeda will take the stage to remember classics like ‘Sabor de amor’, ‘Sin aliento’ or ‘A este lado de la carretera’. From 22.15, the djs of the Movida, Lugotti and Passion Dance will be in charge of animating the party until late at night with surprises and gifts.
For the big day, after the solemn mass at 11 am, the little ones will be able to have fun with the giant games of Jugueroix around the Town Hall to the rhythm of the musical vermouth by Musicaires Swing Band. In mid-afternoon the shows return with the Company La Churri, which stages ‘*Wooooow!’ at 18.30. Then it will be the turn of La Banda de Late Motiv. From 9 pm, come the strong emotions with the correfocs by Els Mals Esperits.
During the week there are scheduled events such as the presentation of the book ‘La toponรญmia de la costa de Sant Josep de sa Talaia’ by its authors, Neus Marรญ Planells and Enric Ribas, edited by the IEE, on Thursday, March 23 at the Centro de Cultura Can Jeroni at 8 pm.
The XIII Correbars
For the weekend is scheduled another of the usual appointments of the program, with the XIII edition of the Correbars, with live performances throughout the village from 7.30 pm and the final concert by Ses Sopris at the Town Hall. On the same day at 8.15 pm ‘Noves Santes’ will be performed at Can Jeroni.
On Wednesday, March 29 at 8 p.m. Can Bernat Vinya will host the ‘vino payรฉs’ wine competition with the tasting of the elaborations presented in the categories of red wine and white/rosรฉ wine. The following day, Thursday, March 30, Can Jeroni hosts the presentation of the book ‘Comerรงos histรฒrics del municipi de Sant Josep de sa Talaia’, edited by the City Council, at 8 pm.
The change of month is celebrated with family games on the beach of Cala Vedella and the giant games of Jugueroix with a chocolatada at noon on Saturday, April 1. At 2 pm, Ca Sa Majora Siglo XXI organizes ‘Polp a s’olla!’, the first contest of Frita de Pulpo, for which groups can register until March 25 at casamajora.blogspot.com. The music will be provided by Igea and Discover. At 8 p.m. the 2000! Party starts with a concert by the group A Contracorriente, a tribute to Canto del Loco with prizes for the best costume of this era.
