Here are the best plans for the weekend on Ibiza and Formentera

Semana Santa kicks off this weekend on Ibiza and Formentera with the Friday of Sorrows and Palm Sunday processions.

This first weekend of April marks the beginning of Semana Santa on Ibiza and Formentera. On Friday of Sorrows processions are held in Vila and Danta Eulària and on Palm Sunday there are masses and blessings in the different parishes and processions, such as ‘La Borriquita’ in Vila, one of the most widely followed during Semana Santa on Ibiza and Formentera. In addition, on the same Sunday the traditional Semana Santa concert by the Choir and the Ciutat d’Eivissa Band is held in the church of Santo Domingo de Dalt Vila.

Another meeting point will be theSant Jordi va de Frita, the so-called ‘interstellar’ championship of frita de matances, which will take place on Saturday in Sant Jordi, with 30 participating teams and music to help with digestion.

Solidarity will take centre stage on Ibiza on Saturday, with the ‘Maratón 12 horas de Música por Ucrania‘ (12-hour Music Marathon for Ukraine), in which a dozen artists will take part in Sant Antoni’s Passeig de ses Fonts from noon to midnight.

There is also room for music this weekend, with two concerts in the ‘Dies Musicals’ season, on Friday with the show ‘Improvisando con Don Quijote’ at the Centro Cultural de Jesús, and on Saturday with Vocimusic at the Centro Cultural Cervantes de Sant Antoni.

And on Sunday the veteran Catalan singer-songwriter Marina Rossell arrives at Can Ventosa, who will present her album ‘300 crits’ within the Barnasants season.

Formentera kicks off the Book Day celebrations with the show ‘Téntol‘, by the Manipulats troupe, with circus and clown for the whole family on Saturday in the Sant Ferran church square.

And there is more weekend music, book presentations, excursions and cinema….
