Here are the best plans for the weekend on Ibiza and Formentera

Sant Antoni World Matanzas Rice Competition and two days of street party in Sant Josep this weekend

This weekend is undoubtedly marked by the return of one of those events that Ibizans love, the Sant Antoni World Matanzas Rice Competition, held on Saturday. Although participation has been reduced to 65 teams and distancing will need to be maintained, it is sure to delight all lovers of this traditional island dish.

Another highlight for the weekend is Sant Josep festival programme, which has Saturday and Sunday scheduled with parties and music in the street from noon and concerts by two of the best bands on the island, Rels, and Sequoia Tree, on their way to their farewell concert.

There will also be concerts as part of the Consell de Eivissa’s ‘Dies Musicals’ season, with The Moonshine Band on Thursday in Can Jeroni and Vudu Delta on Saturday in Sant Antoni, as well as the whole string of ‘Sant Josep és Música’ concerts in different venues around the municipality.

There is also cinema, among other things, with the opening of the Ibiza CineFest independent film festival on Friday in the Caló de s’Oli auditorium.

And there’s plenty of theatre, concentrated on Saturday, with ‘Kelly’ at Can Ventosa, ‘Joana E’ at the Teatro España in Santa Eulària and ‘Balada de la garsa vella’ in Formentera. And magic, with the return of the magic association this Friday in Jesús. And lectures and talks and book presentations…
