Customs Surveillance officers of the Tax Agency (SVA) in Ibiza intervened 875 kilos of hashish in the early morning of last February 23rd, after discovering a stash made by a semi-rigid boat in Cala Xuclar (Ibiza) within the framework of a maritime surveillance operation, as Diario de Ibiza advanced.
The operation began when the patrol boat ‘Colimbo IV’ was carrying out a night coastal surveillance. At that moment it detected a group of people with an all-terrain vehicle of great power in Cala Xuclar, in the municipality of Sant Joan.
Given the signs indicating the existence of a cache of narcotics on the beach, the crew members of the patrol boat requested support from all the Customs Surveillance units, who immediately went to the scene.
With the drugs already on the beach, the investigators tried to stop the vehicle suspected of having picked up the drugs, which left the area fleeing at high speed.
The vehicle, a large SUV, was followed by investigators. Finally, after a chase, the Customs Surveillance officers managed to intercept the vehicle and discovered that it was loaded with 25 bales of approximately 35 kilos of hashish each. The driver was then arrested for drug trafficking and 875 kilos of drugs were seized.
The semi-rigid vessel that carried out the cache could not be intercepted after fleeing the beach. Investigations are still ongoing and further arrests are expected.
