Some 200 people did not receive the 2021 tourist voucher in the Balearic Islands

In this year's call for tourist voucher applications, an empadronamiento certificate is requested, although Aviba clarifies that the resident's certificate is sufficient.

About two hundred people who applied last year for the tourist voucher from the Govern that subsidizes 100 euros for interisland trips by the residents, have not received it. It is attributed to failures in presenting the complete documentation.

It should be remembered that the call to request public aid to travel in 2022 opened on Monday. The formula is repeated: you can apply for 100 euros per person from today, until the 200,000 euros budget for the subsidized program has been fully allocated, although it will be expanded through the EU Next Generation funds, to encourage local tourism, which last year was a great success among the resident population. Reservations must be made through accredited travel agencies.

In the face of citizen complaints through social networks, once the Minister of Economic Model, Tourism and Labor, Iago Negueruela, announced a new call for the program last Friday, his department specified on Monday that the incidents are “minimal” taking into account that of the more than 7.000 vouchers that were approved, for a total of 1.2 million euros, the were “less than 200” applicants for tourist vouchers travel to neighboring islands that were not approved.

Tourist Voucher application procedures improved

From the Agrupación Empresarial de Agencias de Viaje de Balears (Aviba) it is confirmed that there have been problems with around 200 tourist voucher applications. Xisco Mulet, its president, explains that in order to avoid “failures” for this year’s round, “the procedure has been simplified” when applying.

In this regard, the Conselleria indicates that the telematic management has been improved for the new round, in coordination with Aviba, to avoid the same situation this year. Regarding the incidences for which the tourist vouchers have not been paid to the 200 affected, it stated that it is not up to the Agency for Tourism Strategy of the Balearic Islands (Aetib), which is in charge of the program, to correct it.
