The Formentera Jazz Festival kicks off on Thursday, June 2nd at the Blue Bar with the line-up of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music producer Thaïs Morell and her Samba Jazz ensemble.

On Friday June 3rd, the Formentera Jazz Festival will return after two years to its original stage in the Plaza de la Constitució in Sant Francesc with The Plaza Band, the formation of Tony Gartell and the musicians of the summer ‘Jazz a la plaça’, before Martin Burguez, an artist who moves between swing, jazz and rock.

We are very excited that for this year’s edition we can once again provide an in-person Formentera Jazz Festival and return to the the Plaza de la Constitució main stage

On Sunday June 5th will come the closing, with the traditional jam session at Chezz Gerdi, but with a surprise: the artist Tonina, who already performed in the 5th edition of The Formentera Jazz Festival.

In addition to the concerts, the FJF has a series of parallel activities, which will focus on the importance of the intersection and synergies that exist between the music industry and sustainability with the masterclass ‘Music and Sustainability’ and the presentation of ‘shesaid.so Spain’, a platform to make the role of women and gender dissidence visible in the music industry.

In addition, live broadcasts will continue from different locations in the middle of nature on Formentera with their ‘Sound Connections’ – one from a cave and another from the sea- “inviting all those who are on the island to listen and observe it,” they said in the statement. In addition, on Sunday the organisers and artists will once again be collecting microplastics on Formentera’s beaches.

Quality cultural offerings

Formentera’s Vice President and Councillor for Tourism, Alejandra Ferrer, explained yesterday that the Consell “promotes this event at the beginning of the season to present visitors with a quality cultural offer, far removed from the sun and beach, and which residents can also enjoy”. In addition to the recreational side of the festival, Ferrer stressed “the awareness-raising aspect of sustainability”.

Culture councillor Susana Labrador said that “after two years of the pandemic, which has prevented a festival with concerts in the Plaza de la Constitució de Sant Francesc, we are very excited that for this year’s edition we can once again provide an in-person Formentera Jazz Festival and return to this place as the main stage.
