A specialized team of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil has traveled to Formentera to continue investigating and determine the causes of the fatal fire, which occurred early Wednesday morning in the Vénda des Molí, between Sant Francesc and Sant Ferran.
As a first step, the Guardia Civil agents have expanded the perimeter sealed around the house to thoroughly analyze the area and to obtain evidence or clues to determine the origin of the blaze.
Fatal fire
As a result of the fire, a 39 year old man living in Formentera died of smoke inhalation when, after warning a neighbor, he went back into his room, where the flames presumably started. Meanwhile, his father, an 84-year-old man, was outside and his 77-year-old mother was on a terrace on the first floor, from where she was rescued by firefighters. Both were treated on site by the health services.
