Two excursionists who were kayaking under the cliffs of the Mola in sa Cala de Formentera yesterday morning around 9am, found the body of an undocumented adult male in an advanced state of decomposition on the shoreline, as confirmed by sources of the Peripheral Office of the Guardia Civil. These people who found the body called the 112 emergency service and the deployment by land and sea was launched.
Body moved to the Port of Ibiza for identification process
Because the access by land was very complicated, the troops of the Special Underwater Activities Group (GEAS) for the Guardia Civil moved to the area to retrieve the body and move it to the port of Ibiza, where the Judicial Police and forensic doctor plan to expedite its transfer to the Forensic Anatomical Institute, where they will proceed to the autopsy for identification.
According to confirmed sources of the armed institute, the body shows signs of having spent several days at sea due to its advanced state of decomposition. Taking into account this circumstance, the investigation does not rule out that it could be a victim of irregular immigration from North Africa.
In recent days there has been the arrival of three small boats, one of them with 27 people on board that arrived at ses Platgetes in es Calรณ, and two others rescued 52 miles south of Formentera by Salvamento Marรญtimo. In one of them there were 18 people on board and in the other five, with a corpse on board.
