Ibiza has revealed the dates for its five major festivals in 2022

Sueños de Libertad, Bloop Festival, Ibiza Jazz Festival, Territori, and Ibiza Light Festival unveiled at Fitur 2022

As part of the campaign ‘Ibiza breathes culture,’ the Ibiza Town Hall announced its program of cultural festivals for this year today in Madrid, as part of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur). The Sueños de Libertad music festival, the Ibiza Jazz Festival, the Bloop Festival proactive art event, the technological Ibiza Light Festival, and the Territori Festival of performance are the five primary open-air cultural events taking place in the city’s heritage surroundings.

The presentation was attended by Tourism Councilor Dessiré Ruiz, Culture and Heritage Councilor Pep Tur, as well as the directors of the Ibiza Light Festival, Pedro Comesaña, and the Territori Festival, Isa Sanz. The video ‘Ibiza breathes culture,’ which will be used to advertise these events, was shown during the presentation.

The dates of the various festivals have also been released. The first will be Sueños de Libertad, which will take place from July 28 to August 2; Bloop Festival, which will take place from August 1 to 20, and the city’s Jazz Festival, which will take place from August 30 to September 3. Territori will be hosted from September 17 to 25, while the Ibiza Light Festival will be held on October 14th and 15th.

Pep Tur, Councilor for Culture and Heritage, has emphasized that the presentation’s goal is to present the city as a safe space and a city of reference for culture and heritage. “Ibiza has had a privileged relationship with culture. Since the mid-twentieth century, many artists, thinkers, writers, and inventors have disembarked in its streets, seeking new horizons or fleeing a cruel reality that had destroyed the continent, leaving lasting scars. And they arrived packed with new ideas and projects, which were soon adopted and flourished, precisely under the security of the Renaissance walls that encircled the Dalt Vila district. Today, we have complete and absolute certainty that this symbiotic relationship will continue to thrive. In our city, the bond between Ibizan historical heritage and culture is an evident reality” claimed Pep Tur.

Other suggestions for Ibiza

Dessiré Ruiz, Councillor for Tourism, emphasized that these are not the only activities taking place in the city. The Department of Tourism has planned a year-round schedule of programs and events for visitors and inhabitants to enjoy the island’s cultural and sporting activities.

Other activities proposed in this annual agenda, which can be found on the Ibiza tourism website, include gastronomic events, active tourism activities, the Nit del Patrimoni, a cultural event held simultaneously in Spain’s 15 World Heritage Cities, the Ibiza Gay Pride, the Ibizacine film festival, and the International electronic music festival.

“In the intramural environment, we can also enjoy guided tours, dramatized tours, or even a visit to the city’s main museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Broner House, the Puget Museum, the Diocesan Museum, or the interpretation center Madina Yabisa, as well as touring the history through the visit to the Renaissance walls and bastions that make up one of the declared assets and that give us the category of World Heritage,” Ruiz stated“.

The City Council of Ibiza, with these five suggestions, “wants to give a city open to everyone, residents and visitors, and provide an opportunity for anybody who wishes to approach history and do so from the most contemporary proposals,” according to the City Council of Ibiza.
