After a wet weekend on Ibiza and Formentera, this Monday the weather protagonist is the strong wind. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has decided to activate a yellow weather alert for strong winds from today until midnight on Tuesday. The maximum gusts forecast will reach 70km/h and, occasionally, in the northwest of the island, they could reach up to 80 km/h.
The Aemet forecasts that the wind will be at its strongest at midday today, decreasing in the afternoon to give way to a calmer night. However, in the early hours of Tuesday it will be felt again on the Pitiusas.
The yellow weather alert has also been activated for coastal conditions. At sea, the wind will blow from the east and southeast, with intervals of gale force 7 winds, and waves may reach three meters high.
There will be a lull in the wind on Wednesday, but on Thursday it will return to the Pitiusas accompanied again by rain. From Wednesday afternoon until next Sunday, rainfall is expected for Ibiza and Formentera, which could be accompanied by storms on Thursday.
As for temperatures, they will remain unchanged. Until Wednesday the minimum will be 12 degrees and a maximum of 20. From Thursday onwards, the arrival of rain could cause a sligh drop in the thermometer to 9 degrees minimum and 16 maximum.
