The best plans for the weekend in Ibiza and Formentera

The Festivities of Sant Antoni are back to fill the cultural and recreational agenda this weekend, especially this Friday, the big day, an unmissable event for pet lovers. In anticipation of bad weather, the City Council of Sant Antoni has decided to cancel the parade of carts and concentrate all the events in the surroundings of the church. After the mass, scheduled at noon, there will be a procession and blessing of animals outside the temple, but if it rains they will be canceled and the ball pagès will be moved inside the parish. . In case , that on this occasion and in anticipation of bad weather, will be held in the surroundings of the temple. The City Council of Sant Antoni has decided to cancel the parade of wagons for this reason. Due to the forecast of bad weather for tomorrow, 17th of January, Sant Antoni’s Day, the parade of wagons will be cancelled and all the events will be concentrated around the church, where the procession, the blessing of animals and the pagan ball will be held. In case of rain, they will be suspended at the same moment and the pagan ball will be moved inside the church.

The program organized by the City Council of Sant Antoni also includes other events, such as the children’s fair, which will run throughout the day, from 11 am to 8 pm, and the tribute concert to The Cure, U2 and Depeche Mode that will be offered from 7.30 pm by the band Neon Collective Tributes.

The musical offer this weekend is very varied. There are two groups presenting albums to the public, Imaràntiawho will premiere ‘Retruc’ in concert this Friday at 8 p.m. at Can Ventosa, Ibiza, and Claudia Bardagíclaudia Bardagí[Claudia Bardagí]and her band will present their album ‘Wave’ on Saturday, January 18, at the Teatro Ibiza, in Vila.

The following day, from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., the seventeenth edition of the Festival de Canto y Baile will be held for the benefit of Aspanob and Asamib.

On the same Sunday at Can Ventosa, at 6 p.m., the Orquestra Simfònica Ciutat d’Eivissa (OSCE), conducted by Miquel Àngel Aguilówill perform with the singer Verónica San Juan the most famous songs of the artist Rocío Jurado. At 7 pm, also on January 19, a new concert of the Pereyra Clàssics series will be held at the Pereyra Theater, ‘Cartography of the sea’, which will be offered by the flutist André Cebrián and the guitarist Pedro Mateo González.

As man does not live by music alone, culture lovers have other interesting options during these days. For example, this Friday, Cristina Amanda Tur and Héctor Escandell present at 8 pm in Sa Nostra Sala their book ‘El Arropiero. The deconstruction of a monster’, focused on one of the biggest criminals in the history of Spain.

For their part, the moviegoers also have the opportunity on Friday to enjoy two interesting proposals, the Ciclo Zinètic, which will screen at 20.30 pm at the Cine Regio ‘Our day’directed by Hong Sang-soo, and that of the UIB Cinifòrum Cycle, which will dedicate the session scheduled at 6.15 p.m. at the UIB headquarters in Ibiza to the latest film by Isabel Coixet, ‘Un amor’.
