Countdown to the CAN art fair on Ibiza

CAN art fair opens this Wednesday at the Ibiza Fairgrounds with 37 international galleries

The Ibiza Fairground is already preparing for the inauguration this Wednesday from 5pm to 9pm of the first edition of the CAN art fair, Contemporary Art Now, to be held until July 17th, with the participation of 37 international galleries from New York, Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, London, Paris… that exhibit regularly in fairs like Art Basel and Untitled.

CAN is a project of Madrid-based cultural promoter Sergio Sancho, creator of UVNT Art Fair (Urvanity), which emerged with the idea of “doing our bit and joining forces so that Ibiza becomes a cultural reference“, according to a note from the organizers.

As a unique element, CAN art fair is committed to creating a dialogue between the new languages of contemporary art and established artists who have stood out in recent decades. Some of these are: Javier Calleja (Nanzuka Underground), Stickymonger (WOAM Gallery), Ana Barriga (Volery Gallery), Marria Pratts (Ruttkowski;68), CB Hoyo (Plan X), Imon Boy (Moosey Art) or Stefan Rinck (Alegría Gallery).

In the words of its curator, Croatian critic Sasha Bogojev: “this focus on figurative painting could be the key difference with respect to other similar events around the world”.
